I approach photography as a documentarian, first and foremost. This means I’ll create images that document a moment, as opposed to making the moment about the images. You should barely even notice I’m there. It’s all about creating an atmosphere for your family to be able to be yourselves, so I can capture you authentically. We want you to remember these images not as the time we got our pictures taken, but as the time we ran barefoot through a field at sunset and the rain started falling right before we got to the car and we got soaking wet and dad fell in the puddle trying to call the taxi and we all laughed so hard we almost passed out—

If you have little ones, this usually means going to a place where kids are free to be themselves, whether that’s a park, your backyard, or a trip out front to the ice cream truck. If you’re adults, it can mean your favorite coffee shop, a walk along the Hudson River, a ferry ride to Governor’s Island… it really totally depends on who you are and what your family loves to do together. What makes you feel the most like yourselves? What embodies joy to your family?
